Safety Protocols
Valley Christian Fellowship has a policy to ensure a safe and secure environment for children and volunteers.
01.
Two-Volunteer Rule : We are committed to having 2 volunteers, at least one adult present in each room.

Check In / Check Out : Children must be signed in and out by an approved parent or guardian.
03.
Visibility at ALL Times : Doors must be open, and windows uncovered. All spaces are open for observation.

Approved Volunteers Only : Everyone working with children must complete a background check and be approved.
05.
Youth Volunteers : Must serve under adult supervision, and cannot be left alone with children. Youth volunteers must be interviewed by the Youth Pastor and the Children's Ministry Director.

Snack Safety : We always check allergy lists, and only give snacks provided in the classrooms.
07.
Diapering Policy : Only screened female adults may change diapers.
Bathroom Policy : Younger children may use a "buddy system" to go to the bathroom, volunteers do not need to go into the bathroom with children.
08.
Physical Contact : Appropriate contact includes shoulder hugs, high-fives, and hand holding with younger children. No lap sitting unless clearly visible with another adult and prompted by the younger child.
09.
Report Immediately: Any incident, injury, or concern must be documented and reported to the Children's Ministry Director or a Pastor immediately. All volunteers are mandated reporters.
10.
We are a TEAM! Communicate, support each other, ask questions. Our goal is shared : safe kids, growing faith, and honoring Jesus.
